The Pennsylvania Delaware Valley Woodcarvers is happy to present our 40th Annual Mid-Atlantic “Artistry in Wood” Show and Competition Saturday & Sunday February 27-28, 2016 10 am- 5 pm Saturday and 10 am to 4 pm Sunday at the Bucks County Technical High School, 610 Wistar- Off New Falls Road, Fairless Hills, PA 19030.
We wish to invite you to participate as an exhibitor or vendor in our show!! Our show is proud to exhibit a wide range of wooden artwork. That is why we have changed the show name to include a broader range of work. Waterfowl, songbirds, whittling, chip carving, caricatures, folk art, pyrography, flatwork, woodturning and furniture are just a few of the styles that are present at our shows. And, there are over 25 carving categories to compete in.
It’s a great weekend to meet other carvers, discuss techniques, see ongoing demonstrations and buy tools, and more tools!! As in past years, we are extending this invitation to include artists who use wildlife and nature as their subject. Wall space will be made available for artists where it is possible, but space is limited, so register early as wall space will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis. As always the tables are set up on Friday afternoon and you are welcome to arrange your display between 4:00 and 8:00 PM, or on Saturday morning between 8:00 and 10:00 AM before the show opens.
Competition entries are accepted on Friday evening between 6:30 and 8:00 PM and again on Saturday between 7:00 and 8:00 AM. Judging begins promptly at 8:15 AM so we will not take late competition entries. ALL COMPETITION ENTRIES MUST BE CARVED FROM MARCH 2014 TO PRESENT, (WHICH ALLOWS A PIECE TO BE 2 YRS.OLD) BUT, NO REPEATS FROM LAST YEAR. This is a change to the competition rules. We will be having a buffet in the cafeteria on Friday eve around 5:30 for all exhibitors and those helping to set up the show for a nominal fee. Notice to all exhibitors: The show is open Sat. 10am – 5pm and Sunday 10 am to 4pm on Sunday and artists are expected to remain Set Up until Closing time. Applications should be completed and returned to the address shown. EXHIBIT RULES AND REQUIREMENTS – 2016 (update on Oct. 2015) EXHIBIT SPACE We shall endeavor to assign supply vendors, wall space. Exhibitors with high backboards will be in a specified area. Electric service will be available to all tables. Allocation of tables will be on a first come basis determined by date of receipt of registration form. An exhibitor with a full table may be a mentor to a novice carver. A novice carver can enter up to three items in the Novice Class of Competition without having a table at the show. This novice will be able to compete in this fashion only once. The following year he will need to have his own table, or share in a table in order to compete.
EACH EXHIBITOR WILL BE ASSIGNED AN AREA PRIOR TO THE SHOW AND THIS WILL NOT BE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. NO PRIVATE EXCHANGES OR ARRANGEMENTS TO SHARE TABLES WILL BE HONORED. ALL TABLE ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE MADE BY THE SHOW REGISTRAR. Exhibits may be set up Friday night starting at 3:30 PM. ABSOLUTELY NO BREAKDOWNS of tables until show is closed on Sunday at 4:00 PM. EXHIBIT COSTS The cost of exhibitor tables will be $35.00, $20.00 for half-tables and $50.00 for vendor tables. Exhibitors and vendors will be assigned an eight foot table and two chairs. An exhibitor may request two tables; a vendor will be limited to four tables (32 feet). If an exhibitor or vendor uses display racks, the racks will replace the tables and shall not exceed the equivalent table area. SELLING LIMITATIONS Your exhibit must consist of your own carvings and those of a novice carver who you sponsor only. Exhibitors may offer carved items only for sale. Anyone selling carving related items (wood, tools, books, etc.) will be considered a vendor. There will be no commission charged on items sold. The individual carver or vendor will assume responsibility for all financial matters (sales tax, etc.).
